    The 2013 ACRA System Photo Competition will be held on the weekend of November 29 in Frankfurt, Germany at the renowned Christmas  Markets! Please continue to check on this website for event info and updates. 

    The deadline for entries into the 2013 ACRA SYSTEM PHOTOGRAPHY COMPETITION has now passed. All entries will now be shipped to FRA, for judging in Germany in mid-October.

    The judging results will be communicated shortly after this, which should allow time for those wanting to attend this event , to make their travel plans.

    Our 2013 ACRA SYSTEM PHOTOGRAPHY event information sheet and Itinerary is now available for download here.

    Everyone is welcome to attend : all 2013 competitors , their family and friends, and any other ACRA members, friends, and competitors from previous years.

    We look forward to seeing you all again, and making new friends !

     The ACRA Photo competition is a great way to show your photographic skills to all your fellow employees, family and friends! This competition is open to all ACRA active, retired & former members of AC, AC Express (Jazz) and Rouge, including their spouses and dependent children from all locations across Canada the USA and Europe. Make new friends, have fun, and share your talent!

    RULES & GUIDELINES

    1) ELIGIBILITY

    This competition is open to all ACRA active, retired & former members of AC, AC Express (Jazz)
    and Rouge, including their spouses and dependent children.
    If you are not currently and ACRA member, you will need to enroll, through your local ACRA representative.
    AC Mainline Membership $12/yr
    AC Associate Membership (ex. Jazz) $24/yr
    Note: former employees (ex. AVEOS, or severed employees) must have been an ACRA member
    at the time you left AC.

    2) COMPETITION RULES

    THIS IS A PRINT COMPETITION. Prints only.

    "OPEN" subject (photo can be any subject matter).
    ( Please be advised that photos containing nudity must not show the subject's face.
    Nude photos will be judged but will not be displayed on the ACRA photo website)

    Two categories : MONOCHROME & COLOUR, judged separately.
    You may submit entries in both categories.

    Maximum 10 entries total per competitor.
    $3.00 CAD/USD fee per entry.

    Photos should not have been entered into any other ACRA photo competition

    All entries must be mounted on a stiff backing such as rigid cardboard or foam core.
    No other materials allowed for backing.

    Matting your print is optional.

    Minimum Photo Image Size: 8" x 10" (20cm x 25cm)
    Maximum Entry Size (including any mat surrounding the image): 16" x 20" (40cm x 50cm)
    Panoramas accepted: one side must be minimum 10" (25cm), no side to exceed 20" (50cm)
    No panorama to exceed 16 x 20 including any mat.

    No glass or plexiglas.
    No masonite or wood
    No metal
    No plastic
    No frames
    No prints on canvas on stretcher frames.
    No wires, metal, plastic, or adhesive hangers on back side of entry.

    Affix a completed entry label to back of each photo/mat.
    No entrant name or print title should appear on front of print or mat.

    Deadline for receipt of entries: Friday, 13 Sept 2013, 2100h

    Identify your print on the back with:
    - your name & employee number .
    - your AC base, work location & company mail zip
    - your home address, phone number, & email
    - the TITLE of the print
    - If the entrant is not the employee, please add relationship to employee (i.e. spouse, etc)

    You may download the printed entry label (PDF) by clicking here (adobe Acrobat Required),
    or a near facsimile will suffice.

    No name or title should appear on the front of the print or mat

    Payment : make cheque/draft payable to ACRA SYSTEM PHOTOGRAPHY

    PARTICIPATION IN THE COMPETITION INDICATES COMPLETE ACCEPTANCE OF THE CONTEST RULES.
    Entries not complying with the contest's specifications will not be judged nor displayed.

  • packshippingPACKING & SHIPPING

    It is the responsibility of the entrant to ensure their entries are in suitable packing to prevent damages.

    Recommendations:
    - When packing, to avoid scratches, protect your print with individual smooth sleeve,
    or use a smooth cover sheet or divider large enough to cover the entry.
    - Packing your prints face to face, will a smooth divider sheet in between them, offers good protection.
    - Please ensure adequate packing for shipping (packages can take a beating in shipping).
    - Bubble wrap is recommended, encased in a cardboard box.
    - Pack trimly in a way to prevent shifting or movement of prints in a package.
    - Fill empty spaces/ corners/ends in large packages to prevent crushing.

    ACRA PHOTO representatives will do their best to handle with care during competition and return transport.

    RETURN OF IMAGES

    If you send your prints via Air Canada company mail, they will be returned to your company mail address.
    (This is the preferred method for cost).
    If you send your prints via Canada Post, or any Courier, and would like your prints returned to you using
    same method after the show. Please ensure that you include the cost of return mailing/shipping with your
    entry fee.

    If you are attending the Systemwide event in FRA, you may also carry home your prints at the end of the
    event.

  • judgingawardsJUDGING & AWARDS

    All accepted entries will be judged directly into this SYSTEM WIDE competition (no regional judgings).

    Monochrome and Colour will be judged separately.

    Judges will score images on a points system :
    - The 3 highest scoring images in each category receive GOLD.
    - The next 3 highest scoring images in each category receive SILVER.
    - The next 4 highest scoring images in each category receive BRONZE.
    - Honourable Mentions may be awarded at judges' discretion in event of tied scores.

    A total of 10 Awards GOLD/SILVER/BRONZE will be presented for Monochrome category.
    A total of 10 Awards GOLD/SILVER/BRONZE will be presented for Colour category.

    1 BEST OF SHOW - GRAND PRIX will be selected from the 6 GOLD awarded prints.

    Judges will select all winning entries, and their decision is final.

    All GOLD winners will receive a PY2/J00 ACRA travel pass to attend the Systemwide show in FRA.
    All SILVER , BRONZE and Honorable Mention winners will receive a C1/J00 ACRA travel pass to attend the Systemwide show in FRA.
    Note: It is Air Canada's policy that only active and retired employees can receive ACRA travel passes.
    Family members of active and retired employees and severed employees must use personal travel passes to attend.
    These travel passes are strictly for travel from employee's home city, to FRA for the 2013 ACRA SYSTEM PHOTO event, and return to home city.
